Why I Went on OEX
I shared this with my church before I left
I’d like to give you some background as to why I am going on this trip.I started working full-time a year ago. I joined a company with a wonderful staff to work with. Most of them are women. I couldn’t understand how they were motivated to work everyday of their lives. Being an administrative associate is definitely not their passion in life. However, I came to understand they are bounded by many things. They need to earn money to raise a family, pay mortgages and other debts. After a few months, I discovered their real passions. One lady wanted to be a professional hair stylist. Another wanted to be a personal fitness trainer. And another just wants to be healed from multiple sclerosis so she can take care of her family. What motivated me to go on this mission trip was because of what I saw in my coworkers. I see them going through life, and not enjoying the real purpose and dream that God had created them for. Even though I was trying to get out of boring job, so I could go on an “exciting” missions trip – God made it clear that my mission field was right where I was at. Through my coworkers I learned many things about life. Some were divorced, and remarried, scarred by relationships. One lady had severe health problems and had to go on disability leave. Some partied and drank every weekend to try to fulfill the emptiness inside of them. I could see their pain and emptiness. I realized that all of them needed the love of Jesus Christ. Even though I shared my testimony with them in writing, I wished I had the courage to share Jesus with them face to face. God has a divine purpose and plan for each of you. He has made you with unique strengths and weaknesses. If you haven’t already, I challenge each one of you to search for your passion and dream, however long it may take. I am praying that I will find my passion and purpose during the next 6 weeks. I also hope that others will be touched by my testimony and receive Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
Mark 11:24 - Jesus says, “whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Please pray that the Holy Spirit will empower me to put aside my fear, and to be bold and speak of the cross and salvation. Please pray that lives will be changed by the love of Christ.
