What I Learned After I Returned

OEX Project Before I Left Moments Captured What I Learned

I shared this with my church in July

Before I left for Asia, a speaker at our training session told us that when we step out in faith:*         God will show us His miraculous power*         God will show us a lot about ourselves*         God will show us about who He is*         God is going to show us more about His will for our lives

God did reveal these things to me. The whole team of 60 Canadians brought 140 to Christ. He showed me that when we do His work, it is not by our own strength, but by His power and the Holy Spirit that lives are changed. I realized that it is more important for me to surrender to Him and pray for the lost, and allow Him to transform lives. I learned to be faithful in sowing seeds, even if we don’t see the immediate results. John 4:36 – 38 : 36Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. 37Thus the saying 'One sows and another reaps' is true. 38I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor." Our group reaped the labour of those who have been diligently praying for those lives who came to Christ.

I realized that it is absolutely nothing that I do, but it is only Jesus who saves. It was such an honor and privilege for me to take part in His work. I was overwhelmed by the fact that the God of this universe desires to use me.

I also learned the importance of humility. It is important have a teachable character and obey those whom God has placed above you. Even though I was the eldest in my group, I had a lot to learn from those who are younger than I.

I experienced true joy when I depended on Him for everything, and He showed Himself so faithful. I asked Him daily to grant me wisdom to relate to people, for the right words to start a spiritual conversation, and for health and energy to do His work.

This experience also increased my faith in sharing the gospel. Each time I share my own testimony, God reminds me of His incredible mercy and grace that He’s lavished upon me. He also reminds me that many are in the dark as I once was, and desperately need Jesus in their lives.  Lastly, I learned to invite the Holy Spirit to fill me up every day. This was vital for me each and every morning. I have seen and tasted that the Lord is good! I challenge you to take a step of faith and go on a short term mission trip to East Asia, or anywhere, even in Calgary.  I would be delighted to share about the opportunities available with each of you.
